Welcome!
Welcome to the Northern Illinois University State Data Center (SDC) Network Coordinating agency web site! This site provides access to Illinois data and if you can’t find it here, please feel free to contact us. The State Data Centers were created in 1978 to make data available locally to the public through a network of state agencies, universities, libraries, and regional or local governments.
COVID-19
Click here to see the latest most useful data available to understand the size, scale and scope of the COVID-19 pandemic in Illinois. The state mandated a shelter in place order on March 25th in an attempt to flatten the curve and alleviate the overwhelming need for medical assistance. If you have symptoms, please contact your healthcare provider for instructions. If you are not able to breathe or having other emergency symptoms go directly to the local hospital or call an ambulance.
Annual Population Trends and Rankings
Illinois has been losing population primarily driven by the changing demographics, especially in Cook County. The Census Bureau’s population estimates look at the birth and death records in each county along with migration data of who moved where in the last year. The data shown here is the result of those population estimates to use as a more sensitive gauge of population change in our communities.
